An abbot of Saint George led Kotor and Perast to become a part of Venetian republic. In that way the town remained a part of Christian Europe. In the meantime the land of the Balkan became part of the Ottoman empire, Perast was built according to western patterns.

The church of Saint George has a single domed basilica.The church tower is in Roman style.

The monastery is enclosed with Voban elements.

The people from Perast were buried for centuries in the church yard of the abbey.

Cypresses give a special picturesque value to the island. The group of twenty dark green vertical lines emphasises the uniqueness of Saint George in the landscape.
